Our Story
The St. Frances Cabrini Clinic has battled many storms and still continues to serve the uninsured in South-West Detroit. In 2019, Tawana Nettles-Robinson took over the clinic as Executive Director, which was spearhead by Dan Hale who brought together a collaboration between Trinity Health and the Most Holy Trinity Church in order for the clinic to continue its mission and maintain Clinical operations. As time has passed, the clinics dispensary which hosts various medications has gotten better and bigger. We also have budding Wayne State Student Pharmacists that help with the pharmacy workflow. Our clinic also has an on-staff community health worker to help patients garner that social resources they might need and enroll in state-assisted insurance programs. During this time, the clinic also transitioned from paper charting to electronic records to enhance clinical documentation and patient safety. We continue to operate on a completely volunteer run model, which has been made possible due to the dedication of all our volunteer staff members. The clinic has also been able to expand its services by providing Dermatology services owing to the support of Henry Ford residents and Gynecology services under the guidance of Dr. Brian Torok from Corewell Health Hospital. After months of perseverant efforts and planning we also been able to establish Dental services on Saturdays (Bi-weekly). This was made possible because of the dedication of a group of Dental Students at University of Detroit Mercy. Beyond this, our collaboration with Freedom House allows us to appropriately serve the homeless, refugee, and asylum-seeking populations that live within the city of Detroit. We also host Project Hope which provides new mothers with the support they need to appropriately care for their child. The clinic continues to reduce the barriers faced by its patients through new programs and implementations. We are currently working towards reducing the food insecurity faced by patients at our clinic and improving patient education.
